MEG Symposium and Open House

Date: December 7, 2023

Time: 3pm - 6:30pm

Location: Atkinson Hall

Please join us for the opening of the new MEG Center, located at UC San Diego’s Qualcomm Institute. This facility is one of only about 20 in the nation to perform magnetoencephalography (MEG), a non-invasive, painless and quiet technique for measuring the very weak magnetic fields in the brain which are associated with the brain’s electrical activity. MEG is the most advanced and accurate functional brain imaging technique currently available.

The MEG Center will support both research and clinical activities with its advanced functional brain imaging techniques and state-of-the-art equipment. With the ability to accurately and non-invasively detect brain activity, the facility can assist physicians and researchers in many ways, including to pinpoint seizure sites, map brain function ahead of surgery, and develop markers for the diagnosis of brain disorders such as concussions, schizophrenia and post-traumatic stress disorder.
