Agency/RFP: NSF: Growing Convergence Research (GCR)
Amount: $1.2M – 2.4M
Deadline: April 12, 2024
Program Description: Convergence research is a means for solving vexing research problems, in particular, complex problems focusing on societal needs or deep scientific challenges. It entails integrating knowledge, methods, and expertise from different disciplines and developing novel paradigms that catalyze scientific discovery and innovation.

Agency/RFP: NSF: Innovations in Graduate Education (IGE)
Amount: $300K – 1M
Deadline: April 22, 2024
Program Description:  The program seeks proposals that a) explore ways for graduate students in STEM master’s and doctoral degree programs to develop the skills, knowledge, and competencies needed to pursue a range of STEM careers, or b) support research on the graduate education system and outcomes of systemic interventions and policies.

Agency/RFP: NSF: Ideas Lab: Advancing Cell-Free Systems Toward Increased Range of Use-Inspired Applications
Amount: $3.75M per year for 3 years
Deadline: May 17, 2024 (Preliminary Proposal); September 20, 2024 (Full Proposal)
Program Description:  The Advancing Cell-Free Systems Toward Increased Range of Use-Inspired Applications (CFIRE) initiative will accelerate the adoption of cell-free systems, enable new applications of this technology and contribute to the growth of the U.S. bioeconomy.

Agency/RFP: NIH: Use of Digital Health Technologies in Clinical Investigations to Support Drug and Biological Product Development (U01)
Amount: $1.9M over 2 years

Program Description: The purpose of this notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) is to address topics related to the use of digital health technologies (DHTs) for remote data acquisition in clinical investigations to support drug development.

Agency/RFP: NEH: Cultural and Community Resilience
Amount: $150K
Deadline: May 21, 2024
Program Description: The Cultural and Community Resilience program supports community-based efforts to address the impacts of climate change and COVID-19 by safeguarding cultural resources and fostering cultural resilience through identifying, documenting, and/or collecting cultural heritage and community experiences. The program prioritizes projects from disadvantaged communities in the United States or its jurisdictions.

Agency/RFP: UC Multicampus-National Lab Collaborative Research and Training Award—Research Advancing Microelectronics
Amount: Up to $4M over 3 years
Deadline: May 23, 2024, noon (Letter of Intent); August 1, 2024, noon (Full Proposal)
Program Description: This award advances genuine engagement among faculty, laboratory scientists and students from multiple disciplines across UC campuses and Lawrence Livermore, Los Alamos and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratories. Research partnerships support cutting-edge and collaborative approaches that generate new knowledge and take advantage of the unique capacities and facilities available through the collaborating institutions; provide meaningful training and research engagement for UC students and post-doctoral scholars; and enhance UC’s system-wide competitiveness for extramural support. For this cycle, proposals must focus on the target area of research advancing microelectronics.

Amount: $500K-$1.5M per year for 1-4 years

Program Description: The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to encourage investigators to pursue translational activities and small clinical studies for recording and/or stimulating devices to treat central nervous system disorders and better understand the human brain.

Agency/RFP: NIH: HEAL Initiative: Interdisciplinary Team Science to Uncover the Mechanisms of Pain Relief by Medical Devices
Amount: $1.5M per year for 5 years
Deadline: June 10, 2024
Program Description: This notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) is designed to support interdisciplinary research teams of multiple PDs/PIs to investigate the mechanism of action of pain relief by medical devices with the overall goal of optimizing therapeutic outcomes for FDA-approved or -cleared technologies.

Program Description: The Dangers and Opportunities of Technology: Perspectives from the Humanities (DOT) program supports research that examines technology and its relationship to society through the lens of the humanities, with a focus on the dangers and/or opportunities presented by technology. NEH is particularly interested in projects that examine the role of technology in shaping current social and cultural issues.

Agency/RFP: EPA: Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change Grants Program
Amount: $1M – 20M
Deadline: Rolling until November 21, 2024
