Rajesh Gupta

Computer Science and Engineering

Rajesh Gupta is founding director of the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute at UC San Diego and distinguished professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering, where he is Qualcomm Endowed Chair in Embedded Microsystems. He is also distinguished visiting professor at IIT Kanpur, India. His research interests span topics in embedded and cyber-physical systems with a focus on sensor data organization and its use in optimization of timing and energy from algorithms, devices to systems that scale from IC chips, and data centers to built environments such as commercial buildings. Gupta did his undergraduate education at IIT Kanpur and his graduate education at UC Berkeley and Stanford. He holds the INRIA International Chair at the French international research institute in Rennes, Bretagne Atlantique, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Association for Computing Machinery.
