The Makerspace in the Design and Innovation building at UC San Diego is a 10,000-square-foot facility containing over a million dollars of tools and equipment to empower students to design, build and tinker.
Open to all, students have easy access to, and training for, everything from sewing machines to metal-cutting lasers. Immersed in a diverse community of fellow students, along with UC San Diego’s unparalleled wealth of staff, faculty and community experts, students are afforded an extraordinary opportunity to explore their field of interest, find their passion and graduate with the practical problem-solving experience to have agency regardless of their future – as an entrepreneur or academic, artist or engineer.
“The UCSD Makerspace is an open-access, community-focused workshop for everyone at UCSD, regardless of department or experience level. We support making in every form, from research to artwork, personal projects to entrepreneurship.”
