TOUR OPTIONS

We offer both standard and customized tours of QI facilities and research labs designed to meet your group's specific interests and goals. By working closely with our Director of Tours, you will receive an in-depth tour highlighting the interdisciplinary research done at QI and get hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology. Specific demos should be requested in advance.

STANDARD TOUR

Standard tours and demos are sufficient for a group of up to 12 people, typically last one hour and include:

  • 4K/8K projection in the Auditorium
  • Demonstrations of VROOM Media Commons wall display system
  • 3D Immersive Visualization Lab
  • 3D StarCAVE virtual-reality environment

CUSTOMIZED TOUR

Customized tours can include visiting Nano3 and its nanofabrication cleanrooms, the server room, art gallery, QI Innovation Space incubator, or a private tour of one of the many state-of-the-art labs located in Atkinson Hall.

Available Demonstrations

4K/8K PROJECTION IN THE AUDITORIUM
Variety of scientific visualizations and animations as well as short films produced in the 4K format at four times the resolution of HD video, You’ll see a list of 4K videos and tell us what might interest your group.

VROOM (LOCATED IN THEATER)
Media Commons data sets include high-resolution images derived from electron microscopy, telescopes, and multi-spectral photography. Popular sets for tour groups include Mars, Leonardo, new-media cultural analytics, oceanography and Yosemite.

3D IMMERSIVE VISUALIZATION LAB
Includes the StarCAVE, NexCAVE, TourCAVE and Alioscopy technology (see 3D without glasses!).

NANO3 CLEANROOMS AND LAB
Nano3 provides advanced capabilities for fabrication and characterization in a state-of-the-art cleanroom facility. The name reflects the synergistic nature of the facility, focusing on three fields of nanoscale research and development within the space: Nanoscience, Nanoengineering and Nanomedicine.
