Marco Donald Migliore

Date: 2017-07-12
Time: 2:00pm - 3:00pm
Location: Room 4309, Jacobs Hall, UC San Diego

Guest Speaker: Marco Donald Migliore, University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (Italy)

This seminar with Italian electronics engineering professor Marco Donald Migliore is organized by the Electrical and Computer Engineering department.

Optimal representation of the electromagnetic field is an important and well widely investigated topic. In this lecture such a problem is discussed under the broader perspective of complexity. This approach is not only conceptually intersesting, since it unifies the many different methods usedin electromagnetic field representation, but has some practical relevant applications. Examples in antenna measurements, electromagnetic inverse source reconstruction and MIMO channel identification will clarify the potential of the approach. The lecture is based on the following papers:

Marco Donald Migliore received the Laurea (Hons.) and Ph.D. degrees in electronic engineering from the University of Naples, Naples, Italy. He is an Associate Professor with the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio, Cassino, Italy, the director of the Microwave Laboratory and the Coordinator of the Information Engineering courses of the University of Cassino and Souther Lazio. He was a Visiting Professor with the University of San Diego in California, with the University of Rennes 1, Rennes, France, with the University of Kokkola, Finalnd, and a Speaker with the Summer Research Lecture

Series of the UCSD CALIT2 Advanced Network Science (ANS) in 2008. His research interests include the connections between electromagnetism and information theory, the analysis, synthesis, and characterization of antennas in complex environments, MIMO antennas and propagation, ad hoc wireless networks, antenna measurements, and energetic applications of microwaves.Prof. Migliore is a member of the ELEDIA@UniCAS research group, of the Italian Electromagnetic Society (SIEM) and of the National Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunication (CNIT).
