In Pursuit of Pixels
Guest Speaker: Iman Sadeghi, Pinscreen and CSE alumnus, UC San Diego
Host: CSE Lecture Series
This seminar featuring CSE alumnus Iman Sadeghi, now at Pinscreen, explores ambitions for the future of computer graphics and computer vision.
In this presentation, Sadeghi shares his journey from the past, and his ambitions for the future in computer graphics/vision and in pursuit of pixels.
Iman Sadeghi started his journey "in pursuit of pixels" when he joined the graphics/vision lab at the Computer Science and Engineering department of Jacobs School of Engineering back in 2006. He started his research with Prof. Henrik Wann Jensen in rendering and appearance modeling and received his MSc in 2008 and his PhD in 2011.
During his graduate studies he worked at Walt Disney Animation Studios on hair rendering for Rapunzel from the movie Tangled. He also worked at Industrial Light & Magic on the production of movies such as Rango and Pirates of the Caribbean.
After his graduation, Sadeghi joined Google Los Angeles and worked in Google Photos, Google Ads and on the Google Brain team and worked on various large-scale engineering and research challenges.
After being a Googler for six years, he recently joined Pinscreen, a Santa Monica-based startup, as its VP of Engineering. Their mission is to revolutionize digital communication and online human interactions with user-generated and personalized 3D virtual avatars.
