The Jacobs School of Engineering has set April 20 as the date for the 2017 Research Expo at UC San Diego.  Research Expo showcases outstanding student research from our M.S. and Ph.D. students in all six of our engineering departments. In addition to the 200+ graduate student posters, this afternoon event features TED-style talks by faculty highlighting research from our agile research centers and a networking reception with faculty, students, industry partners and alumni.

Innovation is anything but business as usual. Come to Research Expo to be inspired by exciting research, talented graduate students, and the possibilities to connect. Research Expo features research posters by more than 200 engineering graduate students from UC San Diego, faculty talks, and a networking reception with faculty, students, industry partners and alumni.

Starting at 2:30pm, four faculty talks in the Price Center Forum will cover highly topical interdisciplinary areas:

2:30 PM Achieving Deep Decarbonization of the Global Economy: Engineering and Policy; by David Victor, Deep Decarbonization Initiative and School of Global Policy & Strategy
3:00 PM Contextual Robotics; by Laurel Riek, Contextual Robotics and Computer Science and Engineering Department
3:30 PM Virtual Touch: Smart Materials for Human-Machine Interaction, by Darren Lipomi, Center for Wearable Sensors, Sustainable Power and Energy Center, and the Department of NanoEngineering; and
4:00 PM Secure Internet of Things, by Farinaz Koushanfar of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.

The poster session will feature more than 200 posters by graduate students talking about their research results. The session will run from 2pm to 4:30pm in the Price Center West Ballrooms A and B.  Research Expo will end with a Networking Reception from 4:30pm to 6pm in the Price Center East Ballroom, where industry partners can network with Jacobs School faculty and students.
